This exhibition (2011/06/25-07/03) by Azumi Sayuri (安住小百合) at
Shibata Etsuko Gallery (柴田悦子画廊) primarily was of the colorful style of her
June 2010 exhibition, so the picture on the promotional card must be explained. I was sitting having a cup of tea while the artist explained the picture to a group of people in the gallery (who were also having tea). I think it went something like this: Someone (the artist? a friend? family member?) went back to an area up north devastated by the earthquake and tsunami, and while surveying the wreckage, a rainbow appeared in the sky. The picture on the promotional card (shown here) is a black and white version of just a portion of a color picture of the woman, with a rainbow up in the sky.
